Tirana is Albania’s capital city, painted with bright, colourful buildings and green spaces. Tirana is rich in its selection of shops, restaurants and cafes, giving the locals and tourists a very calm and social place to grab a refreshing drink and bite to eat.
Berat old town was made a Unesco World Heritage in 2008, globally known as the ‘town of a thousand and one windows’. It is a beautiful picturesque town filled with white ottoman houses climbing uphill towards Berat Castle. You will also find Osum Gorge in Berat, the 26km long river canyon featuring its beautiful waterfalls in spring.
Albania was home to Skanderbeg, the military commander who led rebellion against the Ottoman Empire in what is today Albania, North Macedonia, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia. Mother Teresa was famous for her excellent humanitarian work and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
